About Us

The Resort Village of Wakaw Lake is located along #41 Highway East of the town of Wakaw. It is commonly called Poplar Beach. It is the only incorporated Resort Village along Wakaw Lake.

There are about 100 lake front cottages with about another 50 along the back row.  There is a privately owned seasonal campground within the boundaries of the Resort Village which consists of 135 leased sites.

The Mayor is Ken Kowalchuk . The Council made up of Lorne Thomson (Deputy Mayor), Elizabeth Breese, Ed Brockman, and Gloria Silbernagel.

The new village office was purchased in the town of Wakaw at 124 1st Street S in 2019. It will hopefully give the cottage owners a place to pay resort related bills and bring their concerns to council. This office is open Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A letter slot is available near the front door for those who wish to drop off payments and documents when the office is closed. The Village CAO is Pamela Wintringham as of January 1, 2019.
